Completion of the Health and Safety Representative Refresher course enables elected HSRs to maintain up-to-date knowledge of their legislative duties, powers, and responsibilities under the Work Health and Safety Act 2020. The course reinforces confidence in applying safety principles, communicating effectively with workers and management, and representing employees on health and safety matters.
Through reflective learning, peer discussion, and practical application, participants will:
- Strengthen understanding of the WHS framework and the role of HSRs under both the general and mining regulations
- Identify, assess, and control workplace hazards and risks using established WHS principles
- Conduct effective workplace inspections and incident investigations
- Support consultation and worker participation in WHS decision-making
- Appropriately issue Provisional Improvement Notices (PINs) and respond to unsafe work situations
Participants who successfully complete this course will receive a Certificate of Attendance approved by WorkSafe WA.
