Through reflective learning, peer support, and practical application, participants will:
- Explore the Australian heavy vehicle (HV) industry, including key regulations, licensing pathways, and the role of industry authorities
- Identify and manage hazards and risks associated with heavy vehicle driving and the road network
- Apply risk control measures in civil construction environments and during on-road operations
- Understand how weather, fatigue, and isolation impact driver safety, and implement strategies to minimise these risks
- Conduct pre-start inspections and basic heavy vehicle checks safely and effectively
- Gain exposure to the heavy vehicle simulator and its role in improving driver competency
- Communicate effectively and inclusively when working with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) colleagues
- Apply principles of psychosocial hazard awareness and driver wellbeing in high-risk work environments
Participants deemed competent will receive a Statement of Attainment.
